Getting Ready for Baby

The Early Intervention Transformation Programme

Getting Ready for Baby

The Getting Ready for Baby Programme (GRFB) supports parents to give their baby the best start in life and is part of the Northern Ireland Government Early Intervention Transformation Programme.  In the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust a team of four midwives deliver antenatal care alongside group based antenatal education.  Care and support for first time mothers and their babies is provided by the midwives throughout pregnancy and in preparation for labour and birth, enabling a strong foundation for secure attachment and positive mental health.

The first GRFB programme commenced on the 29 September 2016 in the Mater Hospital Antenatal Clinic and was well received by the antenatal mothers and their partners.  GRFB programmes are now being rolled out across Belfast.  The venue and dates for programmes offered to perspective parents will depend on gestation at booking.
