How to fight Flu this Winter

11/01/2018

Flu is an illness caused by the influenza virus and can be more serious than you think. If you are pregnant it is important
that you protect yourself now by getting the flu vaccine from your GP. The influenza vaccine can be given at any time
during pregnancy.

You can play a role in preventing and controlling the spread of Flu by reducing the number of your visitors and also
informing visitors not to come to the hospital if they are unwell with flu like symptoms. Babies and young children can be
more susceptible to infection and we would encourage you not to bring them visiting to Royal-Jubilee Maternity Hospital or
the Midwife Led Unit at the Mater.
